Official Trailer for Vin Diesel's Babylon A.D.

Those French are really kicking ass today! First we had Transporter 3 this morning, directed by Olivier Megaton, and now we've got Babylon A.D., directed by Mathieu Kassovitz. This is the very first full trailer for Babylon A.D. and I must say that it looks great. I'm really expecting this to be the next great Vin Diesel sci-fi in line with Pitch Black. It has a much different feel and much different setting, but it looks like Kassovitz really pulled it off. I love all the action, I love the settings, even Mรฉlanie Thierry looks good, and best of all, Vin Diesel has finally gone back to his gritty roots! Take a look and see for yourself.

Thanks to IGN for debuting the new trailer. This is a vast improvement over the first two teaser trailers.

Babylon A.D. is directed by French filmmaker Mathieu Kassovitz, who also directed 2003's Gothika and a French film from 2000 titled The Crimson Rivers as well as a few other French flicks. Babylon A.D. is currently set to arrive in theaters on August 29th from Fox. The latest poster is featured below.

That last part was... whoa.

4

That scene they ripped off from FIREFOX was so cool, almost cooler than all the other stuff they ripped off. At least the RIDDICK movies were original.

Andrew Wickliffe on Jun 10, 2008

5

Wow, I still hope they are working on the CG. The helicopter carrying the car looked uber-fake. Diesel should consider playing a bad guy every once in awhile, all he ever seems to play is the bad-ass with a heart of gold.

Sooo... will Harrison Ford be reprising his role as Deckard in this or not?

Damn! That Requiem for A Dream score makes anything 100x cooler! I bet if you made a movie about forest creatures dancing around a log and put it to that score it would look amazing! And another thing: this is second movie with Michelle Yeoh that used the Requiem score, first Sunshine, and now Babylon A.D.!!! On another note: the movie looks cool, but nothing original that hasn't been done before, just with better VFX.

David on Jun 10, 2008

11

Hell yes!!! Can't wait! The music is Lux Aeterna by Clint Mansell if anyone's wondering. Such a powerful piece that Sunshine used also for its release.

So beautiful !!!

wow, looks fantastic... thanks for posting the name of the track playing in the background, amazing score!!!

Honestly, the guys who edit these trailers have to add some new CDs to their collection. If I hear that Requiem for a Dream track used in one more trailer, I swear I'm gonna vom.

Colin (brother of Mike) Hunt on Jun 10, 2008

15

Is that number 865 for the use of that track? Or 866? And what is wrong with Vin Diesel when he speaks? He needs to get the phlegm out of his throat..

Ginger on Jun 10, 2008

16

looks great Vin Diesel is finally back kicking some ass, chronicles of Riddick being the last great movie he played in. Lets hope Fox didn't screw this movie over to much.

Curtis on Jun 10, 2008

17

OK this movie looks amazing. But sadly, it almost feels like a mix between Chronicles of riddick and the transporter mixed together.

Anthony on Jun 10, 2008

18

colin, i'm with ya brother. talk about the most overused piece of cinematic score in the past few years. i loved it in 'requiem,' but it's getting out of hand when you hear it everywhere. almost like what happened with the 'crimson tide' score back in the day with everybody and their mother using it in trailers...

OMG... WOWOWOW.. I am pumped... Except the line "There is no mercy for the weak""" BLAH BLAH BLAH... But that snap to the "What is wrong with her" and the rocket blowing in front of her.... AHHH .. hell ya... I am pumped now

i'm only 41 seconds into it and i'm amped. this actually looks good. i'll type a little more once i'm done with the trailer. cool. need another trailer to convince me to go to theatre, but it's a definette rent now, as opposed to the "this looks weak and boring and I don't understand what the hell's going on and why the hell is it in french is it all in french, i'm not really one for subtitle and probably won't see this if it is so please tell me." so..yeah.

Garrett.king on Jun 10, 2008

26

Sorry? Umm this film is an abomination. Did no-one detect a hint of Blade Runner? Did I smell Children of Men? maybe add some I, Robot sequences in there and Vin Diesel's "I'm so Arnold Schwarzenegger" act then you have a deeply frustrating movie. As someone said previously there's a touch of Sunshine in there

Josh on Jun 11, 2008

27

hmm... I think I liked the idea of this flick more when I thought it was just a suspense sort of flick and not so much action stuff. I'll still go see it, tho.

Squiggly_P on Jun 11, 2008

28

#26 ... and do not forget those xXx snowbike stunts ๐Ÿ˜‰ Anyway, count me in!!

Fox on Jun 11, 2008

29

Looks good, reminds me of Blade Runner. I just hipe that they work on the CGI because some of it in the beginning was pretty awful.

Ryan on Jun 11, 2008

30

Does the chick's telekinetic missile block remind anyone else of Akira? And yes it's time to retire the Clint Mansell piece. And will everyone stop complaining that all these futuristic cities look like Blade Runner? The reason they all look like Blade Runner is that Blade Runner realistically looked at a science fictional urban environment, did the logical extrapolation for the design work, and hit the nail square on the head. Over 25 years since that film came out and take a look at Times Square, parts of London or downtown Tokyo. They all look like Blade Runner.

What...no Ice Cube? This looks like the "The Chronicles of XXX: State of Union"

i don't like action movies very much, but the french stuff is at least better than the hollywoodian remake-madness... oh and: if you're gonna use my neologisms cut me some slag an drop my name. i haven't used up my few minutes of fame yet...

The future in this film reminds of Children Of Men a little. At least what I could see of it. I'm in. It looks interesting and exciting.

43

whoaah! I am a big fan of Pitch Black and I agree that its great to see Vin in something that could have some of the same dark do gooder flavor... trailer looks action packed and so what if it has bits of Bladerunner,Children of Men, I Robot yadaaah yahahh blsssspttt! They were great movies so Kassovitz will not be the first or the last to use those super juicy tasty bits!

And Vin is hot in a kind of bar bouncer/bruiser sort of way......

Finally Vin gets back to hardcore sci fi. Now if he only keeps that commitment, a combination of pure gold.

What's with the Necronomicon-tattoo on his neck? He down with magick now all of a sudden? I hope it's relevant, 'cause if they put it there just to make him look spiritual and mysterious.... then they would suck.
